Surrounded with love and support, this grief support group is hosted by The Spring Grove Funeral Homes and facilitated by Companions on a Journey. Together, we help individuals to restore balance and find hope, strength, and healing. Grief to Peace will be held at the Spring Grove Funeral Home (main location) on the 3rd Tuesday of each month.

Grief to Peace Support Group

It can be extremely challenging and isolating to be a man in grief. This grief support group is a safe place to be open and communicate about these challenges with other men who know the pain of losing a loved one. Meet on the 4th Tuesday of the month at the SG Funeral Home, Tri-County location.

Men in Grief Support Group

An ongoing grief group for those who have experienced the loss of a loved one. Coping with grief, especially when it is complicated by social isolation and trauma, takes time. We're here for you and happy to offer this virtual option. Surrounded with love and support, this grief support group is hosted by The Spring Grove Funeral Homes and facilitated by Companions on a Journey. Virtual Grief to Peace Support Group

Founded in 1841, Woodland is one of the oldest rural cemeteries in the United States. Visit the final resting place of the Wright Brothers, Paul Laurence Dunbar, Erma Bombeck, James Ritty, the Stanley Family, the Mead Family, George Newcom and many other famous Daytonians. Let your eyes explore the beauty of woodland themed art as you learn about the stained glass windows, the Parsifal mosaic and magnificent European marble located in the Woodland Mausoleum. Woodland is one of the city’s best places to watch birds. The lush greenery and many secluded spots make it an ideal location for birds to nest and lay their eggs. It is home to both native species and other birds that pass through during their migration. Join us for a 2 hour walk throughout the cemetery looking for seasonal and Ohio native birds. Nature guide Amanda Lawson will conduct the tours and discuss the many species of birds found at Woodland. A pair of binoculars and a camera are all you need. Classes include hands on, one-on-one and group instruction on headstone preservation and proper cleaning techniques.Two class types will be provided including a basic beginners class and an advanced headstone repair class. Woodland Cemetery and the Humane Society of Greater Dayton invite you to one of our most unique events. This historic walk is for all sociable dogs and their humans. The Humane Society will have dogs available for adoption. Come take one for a walk and make a new friend.Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. or online at: bit.ly/WoofWalk.

This special tour begins with the inventors of powered flight and takes you on a journey of the men and women who helped Dayton grow the air services from WWI to the current Air Force. Dayton was well established by the 1850s and brewing beer and other spirits were big business that lasted well into the new century. On this tour, you’ll explore the lives of the brewers and the successes and failures of their endeavors. You must be 21 with a valid ID to attend this tour. On these guided tours, you’ll meet actors portraying Dayton’s famous and infamous residents who have made Woodland their final resting place. You may meet John Van Cleve, the Wright Brothers, bank robbers, sports stars or a gypsy or two. Register for this tour at: bit.ly/WoodlandDays.

A touch of history with mystery includes the life stories of inventors, bank robbers, counterfeiters and murderers. Please note that this tour may be deemed a strenuous walking tour and is not recommended for children, the elderly or those who may have trouble walking long distances through hilly and uneven grassy areas.

All families are welcome to attend this service of remembrance and to light a candle in honor of their loved ones. Refreshments will be served Register for this event at: bit.ly/WoodlandRemembrance.

Guests are invited to decorate and place an ornament on our Remembrance Trees. Ornaments and decorations will be available or you can bring your own. Ornaments can be retrieved until January 2, 2021.
